Southern series looking good for the future.
Not sure about the North series, but at Allsvenskan level there are several teams in the Sothern league which will have very promising futures if they can keep their young players from moving away.
Pingvin RC have a host of younger players who have come up and who are looking very good.
Vänersborg RK as always keep churning out talent from a young age and develop through their youth system.
GRF have been forced into bringing in their younger players due to old bits breaking and with 5 youth players joining the fray has been the main reason for surviving the Allsvenkan top 3.
Spartacus RUFC have struggled for a few years with their youth players but now that there are more experienced players playing alongside , they're youth players are also showing their worth hence their move up to the top 6.
Its always hugely positive to see teams with so many home growns that have come through from youth age grade and the actual level of skills in my opinion has increased with regards Total rugby. I feel this may be a result of all the hard work that the RDO and his cohorts have done over the past couple of years.
Bright future on the horizon for the country I reckon.

Team Sweden Rugby avslöjar :-)
You just got to love it. Si, si, si Senor. The ketchup song!
Not only a boxer, a tryscorer, a monster, but also a moviestar!
The man in the center of attention is exactly at the right place.
I present you - Fernando Iraizoz a.k.a. Luisma Molinari a.k.a. the ERK-prop accused of punching people out.
An explanation on whats being said can be found here. It seems to be a pretty brilliant commercial.
But nonetheless, i advice Fernando to make use of the great words said by the spaniard in Fawlty Towers when he in a couple of weeks enters the court:
"My name i Manuel, Im from Barcelona, I know noooothing"

Mauling equals boring?
I do wish they had retained the ELV with regards the ability to collapse the maul.
This pushed sides who tended to be very 1 dimensional to actually try and play a more expansive game.
Now I feel we once again take a step backwards with regards he excitement stakes of the 15s game and more and more teams are working hard on rolling mauls and playing the percentage game through the use of the boot.
Not saying this doesn't require skill , just felt the ELV would have kept the maul but it wouldn't be as dominant as it can be when facing a team with heavy weights and a good booter.
Worked for PRC for ten years indeed. Seems like a backward step for the excitement aspects.
Rumour has it a backs coach actually resigned himself from a club recently as he didn't actually have anything to do due to the gameplan...rings a bell from a few years ago...
On a personal note I thought all the teams were doing well before they removed this law.

and there's more...
For some bizarre reason this youtube clip of Victor P has been uploaded.
Not really sure what the point is, if its the shoulder nudge of the ERK prop on the Hammerby player running to breakdown, or possibly the lateness of VP's shunt on the Hammerby player laying on the ground after the Reff has blown his whistle.
Is it Youtube material? Yellow Card, then a red? You decide.
More news from the North, and more Enköping RK. Apparently ERK are leading the list of sending offs this year and apparently an argentian prop recently came back from one offence to have now managed to inflict some serious damage to an Exiles players face. As the reff missed the incident rumour has it that this has now turned into a civil action on the Enköping player.
If this is true then it will be the second time such action has been taken, the first of course happened with Frölunda Rugby club when a player punched another and caused a knock out, inflicting some serious damage. I watched the video evidence which was interesting for various reasons, one of them was the fact that the player who was knocked out was three times larger and he came in from a massivly offside position to take out the FRK player from the back of a maul.As the maul was only around 5 persons it was obvious it was a deliberate and malicous act on behalf of the person who was 2 seconds later flat on his arse counting angels.
So, as the law is retaliation I suppose it would have been right to send him off. Of course, if the guy hadn't come so offside to take him out....well, thats history now and the frk player was charged and found guilty of assualt.
Serious issue and basically didn't really have to happen..so, we shall see.
meanwhile, back south its all very odd.
First of all, after Vrk beats PRC and sniffs a chance, having been beaten by GRF the previous wednesday, a protest suddenly turns out of the blue on the monday..
to make matters even more interesting...a phone call to PRC on saturday is made informing them to check our papers as we will be playing an unlicensed player.
Then I hear the subject of trying to knock us up has managed to come from higher places.
makes you wonder.Power of the blog or simply bad losers?

News from around the paddock..
Early trip down to Trelleborg today for a double header for GRF ladies and men.
Turned into a scorcher and double win for the home side teams who will be and should be happy with their wins.
Weather was scorching and some fantastic running rugby was on show from both sides with PRC coming out on top. With the senior men the young PRC players mixed with just a few older heads played some great expansive running rugby, with tries coming from both width and tight play with some great skills. With PRC scoring within 3 minutes of the game it looked like it was going to be a long day at the office, but GRF answered almost immediatly with PRC then answering again.Within 15 minutes 3 quality tries were scored and it set the pattern for a very tough game.
GRF's disipline ensured a penalty count of over 25 against and 3 yellow cards, giving the team an effective rugby playing time with 15 players on the park, a dismal 7 minutes approx.
If one took away the 3 handbags thrown it would be a great advert for the game , especially with the youth players from PRC and GRF who all put their hands up.
Despite the loss , hands up for an enjoyable game.
The ladies was similar with unforced errors from GRFL and some very agressive defense and work around the collision area from PRC hadning a deserved win to the PRC ladies.
Up the road and the big game between Spartacus and Vänersborg to decide who was going up was won comfortably by the Partille team with a heavy scrum and kicking being the main prios, they have earned their way to the Elite for the first time since 96.
And huge news from the north with Kanogo Njuru making his come back after a while out of the game. The review wa scratchy and resembling an old rusty submarine, or something...Great to hear he's back.
And Enköping take a big win against Stocholm Exiles. Early days and by all accounts its all to play for with once again the top 3 teams up north looking the most dangerous. By all accounts with a few imports by some other teams this may assist the teams from the south. But at the moment, the interesting summer season is upon us which closes down half the country.
Enjoy your summer break!
